According to local media reports, on October 21, Pakistani Foreign Minister Qureshi arrived in Kabul, the capital of Afghanistan, to hold talks with the Taliban Foreign Minister.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan stated in a statement that the talks between the two sides will cover all areas of bilateral relations, focusing on ways and means to deepen cooperation in various fields.

The statement also stated that Foreign Minister Qureshi will meet with "other Afghan dignitaries" during his one-day visit.

This is Pakistani Foreign Minister Qureshi's second visit to the Afghan capital since the Taliban took power. He will also be accompanied by the outgoing Chief of the Pakistani Armed Forces Intelligence Agency.

Pakistan was one of only three countries that recognized the Taliban regime at the time in the 1990s and is considered to have considerable influence over the organization.

Pakistan has been accused by the United States of its intelligence agencies supporting Afghan militants in fighting the previous government.

Since the Afghan Taliban came to power in mid-August, Pakistani Foreign Minister Qureshi is also the third foreign minister to visit Afghanistan after the foreign ministers of Qatar and Uzbekistan.
