Cementa issued a warning to its customers on Thursday that they may need to start quoting their deliveries of cement from December.

One of the company's major customers is LKAB, where cement is something of a staple.

- We are worried, this is fundamentally important to us, says Anders Lindberg, press manager at LKAB.

Suppliers abroad

According to Anders Lindberg, it is not entirely clear how LKAB may be affected by the recent tours around Cementa, but the mining company has now arranged for them to be prepared to buy cement from suppliers abroad in case Cementa will not be able to deliver the volumes LKAB needs.

- It will be more expensive and worse for the environment, but we have also secured 10 percent of our needs in Sweden.

Slag from blast furnaces, which is a sustainable solution.

Since cement is a fresh product, there would be major logistical problems if LKAB were to buy it abroad.

Anders Lindberg now hopes that in the long run there will be a solution for the cement supply.

- If we are to manage our production, we can not suffer from such serious disruptions.
