The threatening letters stated that the letter writer wanted to be left alone with his contribution - otherwise politicians and municipal employees risked being injured or killed.

The letters were sent during a period when Landskrona was hit by several explosions and fires.

Two men were charged

In the autumn, two men, 38 and 46 years old, were charged with thirteen cases of threat and vandalism - including the explosion outside Torkild Strandberg's home in August 2018.

The 46-year-old is suspected of suffering from a serious mental disorder.

He is therefore undergoing an extended forensic psychiatric examination.

Only when it is ready can the court decide on a sanction.

Denies crime

The 38-year-old has denied that he wrote the threatening letters.

He also denies that he participated in the explosion at Torkild Strandberg's home.

However, he has admitted that he handled explosive goods.

During questioning, the 38-year-old told that it was he who found out where the politician lived, drove the 46-year-old to the scene and provided him with a firecracker.

The district court writes in its judgment that the 38-year-old should be convicted of the explosion at the Landskrona politician's home because he "assisted the comrade" and "had intent to the act that his comrade actually performed.

Lund District Court sentences the 38-year-old to one year in prison for five cases of unlawful threats, vandalism and violations of the law on flammable and explosive goods.

The man must also pay damages to Torkild Strandberg of SEK 37,000.

Demanded longer sentences

Prosecutor Mathias Larsson had demanded 2.5 years in prison for the 38-year-old.

- It is with regard to the fact that it is an attack on elected representatives something that should be punitive.

It is some form of attack on democracy that has major consequences, he has previously told SVT.
