Both Linköping and Norrköping use the method SIG (social action group) where the social services office, the police and the probation service work together and help those who want to quit their criminal career.
- From 2019, we have helped seven to drop out.
Five have succeeded, says Tomas Flygare, unit manager at the social and care administration in Linköping.
In Norrköping, the interest has not been as great.
- Last year we have had a successful example and one that is going on right now, says Maria Torgersen, operations manager at the social services office in Norrköping.
Say no - because of the police
Several have refused when it was clarified that the police are involved in SIG.
- When you are in custody, you have a greater interest in quitting.
When you do not do that, we lose many along the way, says Maria Torgersen.
