Chinanews.com, October 20. According to New Zealand Tianwei.com, the New Zealand Immigration Service announced that it will remove HIV from the list of high-cost health conditions.

The New Zealand Immigration Service and the Ministry of Health no longer regard the cost of HIV (human immunodeficiency virus) treatment as "high".

Therefore, the Immigration Department removed HIV infection from the high-cost health status list, which is used to evaluate resident visa applications.

The Immigration Department will continue to examine the medical conditions of applicants with HIV, but will not automatically rule that applicants with HIV have unacceptable health conditions and therefore refuse to sign their applications.

PHARMAC (New Zealand Medicines Agency), National HIV and AIDS Forum, UNAIDS (United Nations Programme on AIDS) and New Zealand AIDS Fund all support the update of the list.
