19 October 2021 The table on the Whirlpool dispute in Naples at the Mise began an hour and a half late. To chair the meeting with the trade unions Deputy Minister of Economic Development Alessandra Todde, while Ministers Giorgetti and Orlando are missing. The Minister of Economic Development was summoned last night by Prime Minister Mario Draghi for the control room and at 12:30 he will be hearing in the Chamber on Ilva. The Minister of Labor is also busy for now. The Council of Ministers was also convened today. Work is underway to update the meeting to 25 October, both to have the ministers present and to await the 22nd court verdict on the dismissals of workers at the Naples site.

Under the Ministry, the garrison of the approximately 500 workers of Whirlpool in Naples and Elica in Ancona who arrived in procession from Termini Station for what is a very hot dispute for hundreds of workers who risk losing their jobs.

"They told us that today they would have illustrated an extraordinary measure capable of ferrying these workers from Whirlpool to the Consortium. Today we expect seriousness from this government and that it will explain to us how we can continue. We do not give up, we will never give up", commented Barbara Tibaldi, Fiom-Cgil national secretary.

"Naples and Ancona united in the fight. We will never give up," shout the workers once again and invoke the names of the ministers Orlando and Giorgetti from whom today they await concrete answers.

For the national coordination Fim Fiom Uilm, the management's choice not to extend the dismissal procedure necessary to favor the re-employment - of the 340 workers at the Naples site - is irresponsible ". The union will hold meetings and any strikes in all Italian Whirlpool sites". in order to update all workers on the state of the dispute and denounce the company's lack of willingness to support an industrialization project that has real potential for employment continuity "for all those employees.

Meanwhile, in a joint Fim-Fiom-Uilm press release , announced a national demonstration for Whirlpool on October 29 in Varese, supported by an 8-hour strike in all plants.

For Fim, Fiom and Uilm it is necessary to know as soon as possible in detail the industrial plan of the Sustainable Mobility Hub project presented on 6 August and to see the Government's commitment to establish the Consortium for the Neapolitan site confirmed by 15 December.

The future of the Naples site is at stake.

"That is a defense of legality as well as a job for these 340 workers - underlines Tibaldi - is it ever possible that a solution cannot be found?".
