What happened?

Sofie, 13, has grown up in a family home.

When the social services thought she could be in danger of sexual abuse from a guy in the vicinity of the family home, they terminated the family home.

But even though the guy has now moved, she is not allowed to come home again.

How could that have happened?

Sofie's biological parents have disabilities which means that she is not allowed to live with them.

But they are still her guardians, and want her back.

Therefore, Sofie has no right to a legal trial to come home to the family home.

Who is involved?

Sofie,

who says she has not been sexually abused.

She describes in a text message the sudden move as "a terrible nightmare".

"I will fight to get home again," she writes.

SVT has been looking for her for two months but has not been allowed to talk to her, because the social services said no.

Sofie's foster

parents and siblings

she grew up with.

Mamma Minna accuses herself of not insisting on having custody transferred.

"We have had such a good collaboration with the social services for more than twenty years, I never thought they could do this."

Sofie's

biological parents

, who never wanted her placed away to begin with. "I do not know her very well today," says the mother.

The social services

that placed Sofie in a family home at birth but that for thirteen years let the biological parents retain custody, even though they believe that they will never become suitable parents.

What were the consequences?

Sofie is now placed in an HVB home.

She is not allowed to have her own computer or mobile and the home goes through her mail.

For several months she has not been allowed to call or send messages to her family home, siblings or relatives.

What do those responsible say?

They do not want to comment on individual cases.

But the documents state that they see that she was traumatized by the social services moving her.

Their plan is that she will now receive trauma treatment at the HVB home, reconnect with her biological parents and eventually get a new family home.

"On the one hand, we need to help her stop being traumatized and start living, and start seeing XX and XX (the biological parents) as mom and dad."

Footnote: Sofie, Minna and Jocke are in fact called something else.
