Snow warning in northern Sweden - and meteorological winter in the Lapland mountains

The weather warning issued by SMHI on Tuesday and it looks like it will be sustained.

However, the prevailing snowfall in Dalarna is expected to change to rain in the afternoon, while the abundant snowfall in Norrbotten is expected during the evening and night towards Wednesday.

- The snowfall is moving north.

The forecast is that there may be 30 centimeters of fresh snow in Norrbotten both along the coast and inland, says Marcus Sjöstedt.

Meteorological winter in the Lapland mountains

In the northern Lapland mountains, the average daily temperature has now been below zero degrees for more than five days.

Something that in other words is called meteorological winter.

- You can definitely say that winter is coming, says Sjöstedt.
