Moscow imposes closure on the elderly amid measures to combat the spread of Corona

Moscow asked unvaccinated elderly people to stay home while Russia moved to impose other new nationwide restrictions against the spread of the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) as the country battles record levels of infections and deaths from the virus, Bloomberg News reported on Tuesday.

Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said on Tuesday that unvaccinated people over the age of 60 in the Russian capital will have to stay at home for four months, starting from October 25.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin told officials that President Vladimir Putin will be required to declare the period from October 30 to November 7 as holidays across the country.

Deputy Prime Minister Tatiana Golikova said regions with the most severe case levels should apply restrictions from October 23.
