October 19, 2021 Russia has recorded 33,740 new cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours, down from 34,325 the previous day, and a record 1,015 victims. This was announced by the Federal Pandemic Response Center, updating the total number of infections to 8,060,752.



"In the last day, 33,740 cases of COVID-19 were confirmed in 85 Russian regions, including 2,492 cases (7.4%) without clinical symptoms," the center said, adding that the rate of increase dropped to 0. 42%. Moscow has the largest number of new cases with 5,700 infections, down from 6,823 the previous day.



The federal pandemic response center also reported a new record of 1,015 coronavirus-related deaths, up from 998 the previous day. The death toll in the country is now 225,325.



Finally, in the last 24 hours, 23,426 COVID-19 patients were discharged from hospitals across the country, compared to 16,431 the day before. Total hospital discharges thus rose to 7,040,481.



St. Petersburg introduces a green pass obligation


To participate in events in large indoor spaces starting from November 1st, St. Petersburg, the second city most affected by the new wave of Covid in Russia, after Moscow, introduces the obligation to show the 'green pass' to participate in events in large indoor spaces from 1 November, in sports centers, cinemas, theaters and museums from 15, and restaurants and shops from 15 December, announced the deputy governor, Boris Piotrovski.

The measure will initially affect spaces with a capacity of over 40 people.

Anyone who has been vaccinated or with the negative result of a test carried out in the previous 72 hours can have the QR code.
