The pandemic changed the social codes overnight.

Handshakes were replaced by elbow greetings and hugs with one hand in the air at a safe distance.

But now that the restrictions have been lifted and society has reopened, it is time to return to old patterns.

Or?

Henrik Fexeus, an expert on body language, believes that we should at least increase the physical contact between each other again.

- I want to strike a blow because we at least shake hands again, he says in SVT's Morgonstudion.

He emphasizes that physical contact is important for humans - even if it is of a lighter nature.

- We know that physical contact regulates stress hormones in the body.

Physical touch is a tool that makes us tie ties very quickly and there is a risk that we lose it, says Henrik Fexeus.

"Make your hand inaccessible"

But how do you know if someone wants to shake hands or not?

And what do you do if you do not want to?

That's where body language comes in, says Fexeus.

Among other things, a rotation of the shoulder sends a signal to the other that a handshake is in progress.

- If you do not want to greet, stay away and make your hand inaccessible.

Use the stop hand and wave.
