- Among other things, we employ more people who will work with close care at home, close to the patient, so you get as safe an environment as possible in the final stages of life, says Rachel De Basso (S) regional councilor in Jönköping County and chair of the public health and medical care committee.

Want equal care throughout the county

An investigation carried out by the region together with the county's 13 municipalities shows that they need to expand the specialized palliative care.

The general palliative care is still the responsibility of the municipalities.

The coalition for the Jönköping County Region is therefore pushing for SEK 10 million already this year and another SEK 10 million next year.

The county has an aging population and therefore more care places are needed at all three hospitals in the county.

In addition, more people will be employed and work in so-called SSIH teams, specialized healthcare in the home.
