The Secretary-General of the Lebanese Hezbollah, Hassan Nasrallah, said today, Monday, that they have 100,000 trained and armed fighters, and attacked the Lebanese Forces party headed by Samir Geagea, accusing it of seeking to drag the country towards civil war.

In his first comment since the tensions last Thursday, Nasrallah announced that his party has 100,000 trained and equipped fighters in Lebanon.

Nasrallah accused the Lebanese Forces party of trying to drag the country into "civil war" and of working to make Christians feel permanently afraid of Beirut's southern suburbs.

He said that Hezbollah and Amal supporters shot dead Hezbollah and Amal supporters;

Which left 7 dead last Thursday.

He accused the Forces Party of refusing to dialogue with the other, and that it "does not want any openness between Muslims and Christians, nor forgetting the lines of contact."

"The biggest threat to the Christian community and its security in Lebanon is the Lebanese Forces party," he added.

He believed that all the statements and positions issued by the Forces Party were a "complete adoption of Thursday's massacre."

Nasrallah said that after the Israeli withdrawal from southern Lebanon, "we prevented any armed member of the Amal Movement and Hezbollah from entering Christian areas."

He said that Christians in Lebanon "are the material that is being worked on for the leadership of a person, the dominance of a party, and the service of foreign projects."

Nasrallah reminded the Lebanese that there is a militia fighting for the Forces Party, which is being armed and organized.

He added that there are those who do not see in Lebanon a weapon other than that of Hezbollah.

Syria, the army and the port

Nasrallah said that the Syrian army, Hezbollah and their allies were the ones who maintained the Christian presence in Syria.

With regard to the Lebanese army, the Secretary-General of Hezbollah said, "There should be no hostility and correction against the army."

The Secretary-General of Hezbollah stressed that "the unity of Lebanon depends in the first place on the institution of the army."

Regarding the Beirut port bombing, Nasrallah said that the Lebanese Forces Party "is the first to take advantage of the Beirut port bombing, and we will not turn away from this file."

He stressed that Hezbollah is concerned with the investigation file into the Beirut port explosion, and is very keen to know the truth, but he pointed out that "there is political targeting in the investigation process into the port explosion case."
