Qatargas said it has started the construction of 4 large production lines for liquefied natural gas, which will raise its annual production capacity from 77 million tons currently to 110 million tons.

The company stated in its account on Twitter that this step comes as part of Qatar's plan to maintain its position as the largest producer and exporter of liquefied gas in the world.

The country aims to increase its production by 40% by 2026 by expanding the North Field, the largest non-associated gas field in the world.

The field is located off the northeastern coast of Qatar, and was discovered in 1970, and its reserves are estimated at 900 trillion cubic feet, equivalent to 10% of the gas reserves discovered in the world.
