October 17, 2021Harbi Ali Kullane, former communications adviser to the Prime Minister of Somalia, confirmed that his son Ali Harbi Ali was in police custody after the stabbing of Sir Davis Amess and said he was "shocked" by the arrest. The Daily Mail reports it.

Amess, the Conservative MP was killed on Friday while meeting with his constituents in Leigh-on-Sea, near Southend. Security sources told the newspaper that the assassin of the Tory deputy had planned the murderous assault more than a week in advance.

Investigators will be able to detain Ali Harbi Ali for questioning until October 22 under the Terrorism Act.

Ali allegedly lived in the past in Sir David's constituency, Southend West, Essex, but more recently moved to a residential neighborhood in London, where houses cost up to £ 2 million.

The 25-year-old was known for counterterrorism, which was included a few years ago in Prevent, the government's de-radicalization program. For the investigators he is a 'lone wolf': he acted alone, perhaps inspired by the jihadists of al-Shabaab, the terrorist group born from an offshoot of al-Qaeda and operating between Somalia and Kenya. It is also investigating whether it may have radicalized online during the lockdown.

The mosques in the English town of Southend, which was represented by Amess, have called his murder an "indefensible atrocity". In a joint note, religious leaders denounced the "brutal and senseless" attack, recalling that the 69-year-old parliamentarian was a "great friend of the Muslim community".

The petitioners said that Amess, a practicing Catholic, used to participate in events such as weddings, mosque openings, even the launch of the town's first Muslim scout group; and it was a "pillar" of the local community.

The murder of 'Sir' David is an indefensible atrocity, committed inside a temple, and we condemn it in the harshest terms possible, "the note reads." This act was committed in the name of blind hatred. and we want the perpetrator to be brought to justice. "

Meanwhile in Spider Kingdom, the mourning for the murder brings together the majority and the opposition. Prime Minister Boris Johnson and the leader of the Labor opposition, Kier Starmer, arrived yesterday together at the scene of the Followed at a short distance by the Minister of the Interior Priti Patel, they laid flowers and observed, side by side, a minute of silence.
