According to human rights associations, more than 200 detainees took part in a riot on Friday, October 15, in a prison in Vladikavkaz, in the Caucasus.
According to the account of the police, "
the special forces
" would have overcome this rebellion in a few hours.
Officially, the incident did not cause any victims, but according to the specialized NGO Gulagu.net, detainees would have "
opened their veins
" to put an end to the police violence.
A few days ago, this specialized site posted images from the Russian prison services: inhuman acts of torture were seen in a penal colony in the Saratov region.
Riots in Siberian prison in April
The NGO affirms, after having made contact with prisoners of Vladikavkaz, that it is fed up with the acts of violence of the guards which would have pushed the detainees to the riot.
Such facts are
recurrent in Russia
: the last riots of this type dated from last April, in a Siberian colony.
Each time, the NGOs make the same observation: the detainees who took part in the disturbances were, in the weeks that followed, severely punished by their guards.
