• Politics The PSOE maneuvers to consolidate Félix Bolaños as political vice president of the 'de facto' Government

  • Politics Felipe González urges Pedro Sánchez to stimulate the freedom of "critical opinion" in the PSOE

The decapitalization of the party due to the hasty landing in La Moncloa after the 2018 vote of no confidence and the political disconnection plunged the PSOE into a blackout. A rusty machinery, not very operational. Moncloa prevailed over Ferraz, to the point that the electoral campaigns were led from the federal complex and not in the socialist direction. The new electoral cycle, which if there are no advances, will begin in Andalusia in 2022, and Pedro Sánchez's commitment to reunite with the PSOE, to give it more weight and prominence, forces to reactivate a sleepy party.

Despite the initial intention to reduce the Executive, it is finally made up of 42 members, only 7 less than the outgoing one. It includes 6 ministers and with an average age of 47 years -10 less than the previous one-. There are only 12 of those who were already there. To the 42 must be added, however, the parliamentary spokesmen and the president of the Federal Political Council, thus adding four more people. There is more presence of women than men: 60% vs. 40%. Socialist sources highlight that all territories are represented, including the autonomous cities with Melilla.

The strategy decided by Sánchez is to copy what was carried out in the Government. Copy the changes, introducing the Socialist Executive to his right hand, Félix Bolaños, and the young ministers that he appointed to the Council of Ministers. Pilar Alegría, Isabel Rodríguez and Diana Morant arrive in Ferraz. They are also joined by the ministers Carolina Darias and María Jesús Montero. Youth, renewal, management profile and women are the essence of change. Sánchez called the barons last night to consult and agree on the new hard core.

The disembarkation of the ministers - and also of Guillermo Fernández Vara, the Extremaduran president, who remains - has forced a change in the statutes to make their presence possible. Until now, the Socialists had established that "it will be incompatible to simultaneously hold a position in the provincial, island, regional or national Executive Commissions with being a member of the Federal Executive Commission."

The man for the reactivation of Ferraz will be Bolaños, Minister of the Presidency.

"Superfélix", as the former Prime Minister José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero baptized him yesterday, who from now on will concentrate the power of the PSOE and La Moncloa, where despite being ministers, in the Executive he is considered de facto as the vice president political.

Although Adriana Lastra remains as deputy secretary general, Bolaños' role will be key.

Bolaños is the government's strong man, Sánchez's man for everything, whose last task has been to unblock with the PP the renewal of bodies such as the Constitutional Court, the Court of Accounts or the Ombudsman.

These days, in Valencia, socialism was unanimous: "The news would have been that Felix did not enter."

Now he also adds to his duties that of reconnecting La Moncloa and Ferraz, a task in which there is already a path made since the arrival of Óscar López as Sánchez's chief of staff, replacing Iván Redondo.

López recovered the dialogue with the party and the territories.

The regional leaders' cell phones were ringing again.

Without going any further, Pedro Sánchez spoke in recent days with his barons to prepare for the 40th federal congress to be held this weekend.

Bolaños represents the common thread between the government and the party, a commitment that is strengthened by the presence of the deputy director of the Presidential cabinet, Llanos Castellanos, as secretary of Institutional Relations and Public Administrations.

The Moncloa-Ferraz channel is reactivated, as is the Madrid-Andalusia channel.

After the departure of Susana Díaz as the leader of Andalusian socialism, Sánchez is immersed in the task of making Andalusia regain its place in the federal PSOE.

And a weighty site, important.

It will have up to nine members.

Among them, Felipe Sicilia, who will be the new spokesperson.

Another federation that is gaining weight is the Catalan.

The PSC has four members, one more than up to now.

Among them, the water polo player Víctor Gutiérrez, who will lead the LGTBI secretariat.

The Valencian Community also has four members, including Arcadi Spain, current Minister of Territorial Policy of Ximo Puig.

The Valencian leader directly proposed to Sánchez who was his former chief of staff.

Spain is, therefore, not only a man of the highest confidence in Puig, but those who know him define him as "the most faithful" squire that the president of the Generalitat has today.

Another important incorporation is that of Mayte Pérez in the secretary of Demographic Challenge.

This Turlense has the task of giving visibility to the problems and solutions for emptied Spain, while the PSOE tries to overshadow phenomena like Teruel Existe, which worry the socialists because of the electoral damage they cause in the elections.

Hours before Sánchez outlined the Executive with his barons, with calls until late at night, in informal conversation with journalists, he anticipated his intention to be "feminist, municipalist and to incorporate the reality of immigration."

In relation to the last point, Hana Jalloul, former Secretary of State for Migration and spokesperson in the Madrid Assembly, joins.

Cristina Narbona remains as president, despite speculation that Carmen Calvo could replace her.

Santos Cerdan will be Secretary of Organization.
