It is the Swedish Health and Care Inspectorate, IVO, that has decided that the department will be closed with immediate effect.

The situation is seen as so serious that Malin Östling, director of operations at the National Board of Institutions, SiS, herself visits the home on Friday.

- We received a decision yesterday that IVO decided to close the department.

IVO has drawn attention to misconduct when it has exercised its supervisory activities on various occasions, says Åsa Hedin.

Eight boys aged 12 to 16 live in the ward.

These will, in consultation with the social services, be moved to other departments.

At the same time, just over fifteen employees are affected by the closure.

Unjustified violence

IVO has identified "treatment problems" in the staff group at the department, and there has been unjustified use of force by staff towards the boys.

- It is common for young people in our locked youth homes to act out, but most situations can be handled without violence.

It is about being professional and persistent, says Malin Östling, operations director of SiS Ungdomsvård söder in a press release.

Extremely serious

She emphasizes that SiS takes the situation extremely seriously and that an action plan is now being drawn up.

The director of operations, Malin Östling, is therefore visiting the youth home herself today.

- This is the first time we get a decision on an immediate closure in this way.

The management at the youth home has previously known of information about misconduct which, among other things, led to a report according to Lex Sarah.

That incident has also been reported to the police and labor law measures have been taken, says Åsa Hedin.
