At least 32 people were killed in explosions in a mosque in the Afghan city of Kandahar, according to the AFP news agency.

32 dead and 53 injured were brought to his clinic, a doctor from the local hospital said on Friday.

As a local AFP reporter reported, the explosions occurred during traditional Friday prayers in the Fatemieh Mosque, also known as the Imam Bargah Mosque.

An eyewitness reported three explosions - one at the main entrance to the mosque, another in the southern part of the house of God and a third in a room where the faithful do their ablutions.

Around 15 ambulances were on site, and the security forces of the radical Islamic Taliban cordoned off the area.

Just a week ago, several dozen people were killed in a suicide attack on a Shiite mosque in Kunduz.

The grouping Islamic State Province of Khorasan (IS-K), a regional branch of the IS jihadist militia, claimed this attack for itself.

IS-K, founded in 2014, is hostile to the Taliban, who came back to power in Afghanistan in August.

Fatal attacks are repeatedly carried out in Afghanistan.

A radical Islamic Taliban police chief was killed in a car bomb attack in Kunar province on Thursday.

At first no one confessed to the attack.
