15 October 2021 No mysterious kidnapping: it was only "a fiction, a staging" to have the 7,000 euros necessary to pay a debt, the kidnapping of the English tourist Patrick Sam Kourosh Demilecamps, 25, freed two days ago in Monte San Giusto, in the Macerata area, with a blitz by the carabinieri who arrested 4 young people (3 boys and a girl) in flagrant crime for kidnapping for the purpose of extortion.

At least this is the version of the facts - still being examined by the investigators - provided today to the investigating judge of the Court of Macerata by one of the four: the eighteen-year-old Rubens Beliga Gnaga, an Italian citizen. The goal, he explained, was to convince the Englishman's family to send him the 7,000 euros needed to pay off a loan. It would be Demilecamps himself, Gnaga argued, to engineer the ruse.

The investigating magistrate Giovanni Manzoni validated the arrests and arranged for all house arrest: with the electronic bracelet for Gnaga, for Dona Conte, 22, from Guinea, and for the Moroccan Ahmed Rajraji, aged 21; without an electronic bracelet for Aida Carpani, a twenty-one year old from Montegranaro (Fermo), fiancée of Dona Conte. The two boyfriends claimed to be unrelated to the facts, while Rajraji made use of the right not to answer.

Gnaga, the only one who provided some reconstruction of what happened, claimed that he had made the loan of 7,000 euros to the 25-year-old Englishman, who to repay the sum would have proposed to simulate a kidnapping, even having himself photographed with handcuffs on his wrists to persuade parents to pay the ransom.

Statements that contrast, however, with the version of the facts of the victim, who instead told the carabinieri that he was locked up in an apartment in Monte San Giusto (in the availability of Gnaga) for 8 days, mistreated, left without food and to have suffered various humiliations . Enabled to call family members to ask for money, he managed to send a request for help. That the family has acknowledged, turning to the British NCA (National Crime Agency). From there an international collaboration was triggered with the Carabinieri del Ros and then with the operational department of Macerata and the Monte San Giusto station. The investigations, carried out over a period of 36 hours, led the military to raid the apartment, in via Carducci. Here Demilecamps was found locked in a dark room (with furniture in front of the windows), barefoot, handcuffed and very tried, a circumstance that contrasts with the version that would see him as an accomplice of the kidnappers.

If Gnaga's story is plausible compared to the request for a ransom of only 7,000 euros, there are still many aspects to be clarified, starting with the roles of the four boys, all uncensored, who had met the young Englishman during the summer.
