»The announcement is made by the President of the Republic on the airwaves of the national radio.

This is a commitment made by the government to the heads of state of the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (ICGLR), recalled Faustin-Archange Touadéra: “

A commitment that appears on the roadmap for the peace, resulting from the last summit of the sub-regional organization.

“

It's not an easy decision to make

,” he admits.

The immediate unilateral ceasefire is the demonstration, if need be, of my firm desire to favor the path of dialogue and not that of arms, in the settlement of the crisis which is shaking our country.

 "

Humanitarian reasons

The Head of State specifies that his decision does not prevent the internal security forces from maintaining order, nor the army from responding in self-defense, nor the Minusca from exercising its mandate.

A cease-fire also decreed for humanitarian reasons, said the president, to "

give peace a chance

 ".
