British MP who was stabbed dies

British Conservative MP David Amis has died after being stabbed at an event in his constituency in southeast England, British media reported Friday.

While the police did not name Ames, they confirmed that "a man has been arrested on suspicion of murder" after a person was stabbed and died in Lee-on-Si.

"We are not looking for anyone else in connection with this incident," Essex Police said, adding that the 25-year-old was arrested and a knife was found.

Police earlier said they responded after receiving reports of a "stabbing" shortly after 12:05 (1105 GMT).

British media, including "Sky News" and "BBC", identified the victim as 69-year-old politician David Amis and a member of the Conservative Party.
