Committing government employees to 9 ethics for public service

The Federal Authority for Governmental Human Resources has organized virtual training courses and workshops to familiarize employees of federal entities with the updated version of the document on professional conduct and public job ethics, and the most prominent amendments made to its old version launched in 2010, and its provisions apply to civilian federal government employees in the country.

The authority explained that the launch of the updated version of the document came within the framework of the continuous review conducted by the authority of the human resources policies, legislation, laws and regulations approved in the federal government, in a manner that enhances the efficiency of the work system in the federal government, and keeps pace with the rapid global changes in various fields.

She stated that she made the updated document of professional conduct and ethics for the public job available on her website www.fahr.gov.ae, and sent it to the employees of ministries and federal entities, as a notification, to sign it electronically, after reading it.

The document aims to develop the employee's institutional culture and support professional values, which will positively reflect on his productivity, enhance the performance of the institution to which he belongs, and consolidate the spirit of tolerance. It also calls for providing the best services to service recipients, to enhance trust and credibility in the government sector.

The updated document included a number of basic values ​​of behavior and public service ethics, the most important of which are “leadership, excellence, professional competence, integrity, honesty, objectivity, efficiency, transparency, justice, equality, and tolerance.” It also identified nine moral duties that a government employee should abide by, including “ Commitment to the laws and regulations in force in the country, and to act at all times in a manner that promotes the basic values, integrity and good reputation of the state, and that the employee realizes that all individuals are equal before the law without any kind of discrimination, and the need to respect rights and freedoms and openness to others, and to comply with the principles of tolerance, compassion and cooperation with everybody".

The list of duties also included “that the employee demonstrates his loyalty and affiliation to his workplace, and not cause defamation of the reputation of his institution or any other federal entity, and that he adhere to the optimal use of social networking sites in a manner that does not affect his reputation, the reputation of the entity to which he belongs, or the reputation of any other federal entity. Nor does the state in general, and finally that he abide by all the legislation issued by the state that regulates the use of social media.”
