A Syrian soldier was killed and 3 wounded in an Israeli air attack

The Syrian Ministry of Defense said that a Syrian soldier was killed and three others were wounded in an Israeli air attack on the Palmyra area in Homs governorate yesterday evening, Wednesday.

The ministry added in a brief statement on its Facebook page that the attack occurred at 11:34 local time (2034 GMT) and targeted a communications tower and some points surrounding it and caused some material losses.

The attack came after official media reported a few days ago that the Syrian air defenses repelled an Israeli attack targeting the countryside of Homs, injuring six Syrian soldiers and causing material losses.

For several years, Israel has launched attacks on what it describes as Iranian-linked targets in Syria, where Tehran-backed forces, including the Lebanese Hezbollah, have been stationed since spreading to support Syrian President Bashar al-Assad in the conflict that erupted in Syria in 2011.
