Press Secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov commented on the possibility of tightening measures in the country to combat coronavirus.

Answering the question whether there is a line after which the Russian authorities will be ready to move to "more decisive measures", Peskov noted that the matter "is not within the line and it can hardly be."

He stressed that over the past two years, a certain experience has been gained, and now the entire medical infrastructure has been mobilized in Russia, "more treatment technologies, and treatment protocols, and infrastructural capabilities."

"As long as the health infrastructure in a particular region does not choke, is in working order, it will continue this way," Peskov said.

He also recalled that in those regions where the situation is approaching critical and the health care system is no longer able to provide assistance to new patients, local authorities decide on measures based on their special powers.

In addition, commenting on the new record for daily morbidity and mortality from COVID-19, Peskov noted the need to continue educating people about the need for vaccination, "not hiding the most tragic facts."

“It's really irresponsible not to get vaccinated.

It kills, ”said a Kremlin spokesman.

In Russia, over the past day, 31,299 new cases of coronavirus were detected, of which the largest number was in Moscow (6712), St. Petersburg (2345) and the Moscow region (1911).

During this time, 21,670 people have fully recovered, 986 patients have died - thus, the daily anti-COVID-19 mortality record has been updated in the country since the beginning of the pandemic.

The total number of COVID-19 cases registered in the country has reached 7,892,980.Since the beginning of the pandemic, 6,937,756 patients have recovered in Russia, 220,315 people have died.

The head of the Ministry of Health, Mikhail Murashko, noted that the increase in the incidence of coronavirus infection is primarily associated with the behavior of the population and low rates of vaccination.

More than 1.1 million patients are currently undergoing treatment for coronavirus, which puts the highest burden on the healthcare system, he said.

He also said that among people over the age of 60, 42% were vaccinated.

"This is not enough.

People over the age of 60, you all actually need the COVID-19 vaccine.

It is extremely dangerous for your health and life, "RIA Novosti quotes him.

At the same time, he noted that the coronavirus also captures the young population, and recalled that the vaccine is available in every region.

“If we do not now take general measures to restrict, including those social communications that lead to an increase in the incidence, then we run the risk of continuing growth,” the minister explained.

Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, epidemiologist, doctor of medical sciences Vadim Pokrovsky, in an interview with Sputnik radio, also stressed the need to comply with safety rules, including when traveling in public transport.

“The rules for moving in transport are the same as in all other places: if you use public transport, you must definitely wear a mask.

Moreover, if you are standing at a ground transport stop where there are a lot of people, you also need to wear a mask.

And in the metro, put on a mask not when you pass through the turnstile, but in advance, several tens of meters before the entrance, because a lot of people enter the metro, ”Pokrovsky advised.

At the same time, he noted that vaccination provides the most reliable protection against disease.
