132 million girls in the world are still unable to enroll in school, and the proportion of girls who are out of secondary school in rural areas around the world is 61%, while women today constitute more than 47% of the labor force around the world, and yet women receive less wages by 16% of her male counterpart, and there is a set of numbers and data that are spread on the walls of the women’s pavilion at “Expo 2020 Dubai” reflecting the reality of women in our world today.

The data and figures are a message to remind the world that the full and equal participation of women in all fields is necessary to build a more equitable and just world, as the global poverty rate has decreased by 75% during the past three decades, and despite that, women are more likely to live in extreme poverty than men, and nearly 40 % of female employees work in sectors that were most affected by the “Covid-19” pandemic, which led to the loss of those jobs to a greater extent.

In 2021, an additional 47 million women will suffer from extreme poverty, while women spend three times more time than men doing unpaid work, averaging 4.1 hours a day.

Stemming from a shared conviction that the sustainable development goals and aspirations for a peaceful and prosperous world cannot be achieved without gender equality and women’s empowerment, the exhibition will highlight women’s issues and the gaps that will confront our world, unless all efforts are directed towards achieving gender balance, over the course of the “Expo 2020” months. The six Dubai Women’s Pavilion hosts a range of events, programs and dialogues aimed at promoting understanding of gender equality and women’s empowerment, to stimulating tangible joint action that can be shared with the world.

In addition to celebrating women's leadership of change in all walks of life, the Women's Pavilion supports Expo 2020's quest to provide realistic solutions to real-life challenges.

Expo 2020 Dubai invites visitors from all over the world to participate in creating a new world and to participate in a six-month celebration of humanity's creativity, innovation, progress and culture.

The pavilion includes a Majlis, a vibrant and inclusive space for all artists, scholars, thought leaders, politicians, entrepreneurs and business leaders to engage in constructive conversations focused on solutions to empowering women.

In celebration of important contributions, the pavilion emphasizes an important principle, which is that humanity flourishes through the flourishing of women.

It highlights the essential contributions made by women to the advancement of societies, as well as the challenges that women still face, especially in light of the world's struggle with the "Covid-19" pandemic, and work towards a more sustainable future.
