The announcement had already been made by the Ministry of Tourism, but recently, many reversals on the issue left room for doubt.
This time, it is the Prime Minister himself, General Prayuth Chan O cha, who announces: Thailand will reopen its borders without quarantine to vaccinated tourists from a dozen countries at moderate risk on November 1.
The official list is not yet announced but the Prime Minister has already cited China, the United States, the United Kingdom and Germany as countries concerned.
It is an attempt to relieve an economy hard hit by the cessation of tourism, source of at least 15% of the country's GDP.
