Norwegian Casper Ruud (10th player in the world) qualified for the Round of 16 at Indian Wells on Monday, beating South African Lloyd Harris (31st) in straight sets, 6-7, 6-4, 6-4 .

The 22-year-old, seeded N.6 in the tournament, suffered in the first set against the quality of service from Harris (author of 18 aces in all), before reversing the game.

Easy winner of Spaniard Roberto Caballes in the previous round (85th), 6-1, 6-2, Ruud won three titles in three weeks this summer (in Bastad, Gstaad and Kitzbuhel), a performance never seen since Andy Murray in 2011.

He will face Argentina's Diego Schwartzman (15th) in the round of 16, who also gave up the first set against Briton Daniel Evans (22nd), before coming back and winning the last ten games of the match, 5-7, 6- 4, 6-0.

The 29-year-old, seeded N.11, had already had to work Saturday in the round of 16 saving two match points against the American Maxime Cressy, from qualifying.

He ultimately won 6-2, 3-6, 7-5.
