China News Service, October 11th. According to Hong Kong's Wen Wei Po, on the 10th, at least 10 Japan Railway (JR) lines in the Tokyo metropolitan area, including the Yamanote Line, which is regarded as the “main artery” of Tokyo’s traffic, suddenly went out of power without warning. All stopped.

JR East Japan stated that the incident was related to a fire in a substation.

According to the report, at around 12:55 local time on the 10th, a substation of JR East Japan in Warabi City, Saitama Prefecture caught fire and an explosion was heard. After the firefighter arrived at the scene, it took half an hour to put out the fire. No one was injured. As a result, JR services in the metropolitan area were severely blocked.

As Japan just lifted its state of emergency from the new crown epidemic earlier, and the local epidemic has gradually slowed down recently, many people took advantage of Sunday to go out for fun, and the suspension of trains caused many people to express disappointment.

The lines affected by the accident included Yamanote Line, Keihin Tohoku Line and Shonan Shinjuku Line. Many passengers were trapped in the car afterwards, and some people waited two hours to get off.

In JR Ueno Station, the main transfer station, although some routes resumed at around 2 pm, some routes were still suspended. Many people stood in front of the gate and checked the electronic bulletin board to confirm relevant information.

The substation where the fire occurred this time also failed in September 2017, causing the Yamanote Line and other lines to be suspended for about 40 minutes, affecting more than 40,000 people.
