In the past six months, teenagers from both sides of the strait have used online Go games and live Go cultural exchange competitions to meet friends to promote the excellent traditional Chinese culture and promote mutual understanding and recognition among the youths in Chongqing and Taiwan.

  The 4th Yu-Taiwan Youth Sports (Go) Exchange was organized by the Go Association of Jiulongpo District, Chongqing City, the High-tech Zone Go Association, Taiwan Go Education Promotion Association, and Taiwan Changhua County Go Association. It was launched in April this year.

During the 6-month period, a series of activities such as the "Me and Go" Yutai Youth Essay and Calligraphy Competition, Yutai Youth Online Go Competition, and Live Go Cultural Exchange Competition were held. Nearly 400 teenagers and Go enthusiasts from both sides of the strait participated. .

  In the "Me and Go" essay and calligraphy competition for young people in Yutai, Go lovers from the two places used the theme of "Go integrates the two sides of the Taiwan Strait, and the cultural heritage of China" to describe the Go in their hearts and write the meaning of Go to themselves.

The calligraphy contest received 258 submissions.

Among them, 50 Taiwanese calligraphy works and 61 essays were received; 85 Chongqing calligraphy works and 62 essays were received.

  In the online game between Chongqing and Taiwan, 64 players from both places including Taiwan’s Changhua County player Zhan Yidian, who won the World Amateur Go Championship, participated.

Among them, 24 people participated in the adult group and 40 people participated in the youth group.

Chess players start the game for hegemony by connecting online.

In the end, in the adult group, the Chongqing team defeated the Taiwan team 7:5; in the youth group, the Chongqing team lost to the Taiwan team 9:11.

It is hoped that the young people on both sides of the strait who participate in the activities can feel the spirit of sports, experience Chinese culture, and cultivate their home and country feelings.

  Zhang Zhaofen, chairman of the Taiwan Go Education Promotion Association, said in a video speech that Chongqing and Taiwan have had 11 years of exchanges in Go, and the friendship between the players of the two places has grown stronger.

The Taiwanese chess players who participated in this event were quite strong, and they learned chess skills with Chongqing chess players in the competition and forged a deep friendship.

Although the new crown pneumonia epidemic has hindered the offline communication between the chess players in Chongqing and Taiwan, the 11-year exchange of Go between the two places will not disappear.

  The Chongqing-Taiwan Youth Sports Exchange Program has been held for four sessions so far. Youths from both sides of the Taiwan Strait have conducted online and offline exchanges and interactions around table tennis, basketball, and Go.

With "sports" as the carrier, this activity has become an important platform for the young people of Chongqing and Taiwan to get to know each other, enhance understanding, and increase friendship, and has played a positive role in enriching and developing exchanges and cooperation between Chongqing and Taiwan.
