On the weekend prior to the PSOE Congress, the pieces and the interests of the different autonomies are fitting into the socialist ranks. Also outlining the strong line of his speech. And a prominent one will be "the decentralization of public institutions", which were traditionally established in Madrid.
This Sunday, Pedro Sánchez went to Ponferrada (León). And there he found a claim from the Castilian-Leon general secretary, Luis Tudanca, which links to the controversy generated from Valencia by Ximo Puig. "Spain is much more than Madrid", started the regional leader in Castilla y León, 24 hours after Puig insisted on a "second territorial transition" and on the need for "decentralization", always with Madrid in focus. And Pedro Sánchez joined that line, arguing that "decentralization" is necessary in order to "speak of a balanced development" from the territorial point of view.
"This country needs balance and territorial investments. Zapatero made an effort," Tudanca had said, and after citing state agencies that moved to other provinces, he added that Sánchez is doing so, citing a social security center located in Soria. But the regional leader asked: "We need more, we deserve more", appealing that the "wounds in the mining basins and depopulated Spain are being very painful." In his opinion, changing this dynamic "requires political and economic decentralization." According to Tudanca, it is "the strongest tool we have."
With this speech, Tudanca seconded Ximo Puig's speech, who for years has linked territorial imbalances to the supposedly privileged situation of Madrid. On the same Saturday, in his speech for Community Day, the Valencian president appealed for "a second territorial transition", focused on that same "decentralization", taking public bodies out of Madrid and with a change in regional financing.
Despite the requirements of Tudanca and the local and provincial politicians who preceded him, Sánchez started due to the pandemic, due to the success of the vaccination, and jumped to economic recovery, citing "commitments fulfilled with the SMI, the ERTE, the revaluation of pensions according to the IPC, with a euthanasia law, with more resources against gender violence ". A dozen times he insisted on "a commitment fulfilled", while he asked the opposition to "row in the same direction." He spoke of "an emancipation income of 250 euros per month" (the rental bond) and the State Housing Law to "convert housing into the right that is recognized in the Constitution."
And yes, at the closing, he entered the investment chapter, as his fellow ranks had requested.
"I have defended the need for decentralization of public institutions in our country. That many leave the capital of Spain, for example, the INCIBE", the National Institute of Cybersecurity of Spain that was established in León with Zapatero.
He stressed that "the army's drone unit remains in León."
And above all, what remained was an invitation to reactivate the dispute with the Government of Madrid.
