How Sweden will overcome gang crime and the shootings was one of the topics of the party leader debate.

Prior to the debate, the Moderates, Christian Democrats, Sweden Democrats and Liberals had formulated 20 proposals to stop gang violence in a debate article on DN Debatt.

They propose, among other things, anonymous witnesses, visitation zones, increased opportunities for wiretapping, increased penalties, more expulsions of foreign criminals and the possibility of issuing a restraining order in certain residential areas for convicts after serving their sentences.

M-leader Ulf Kristersson describes the situation as "modern-day domestic terrorism".

"It's larval"

- You have to be rock hard against the gangs and that is why we have about a thousand more in jail and prison.

Some of the proposals today have already been on the table.

Being second on the ball is not impressive, says Löfven in the debate.

He believes that several of the right-wing opposition's proposals were on the table when the parties discussed the 34-point program to stop gang crime in 2019.

Kristersson protests:

- This is larval.

You have said no to several of these proposals as recently as this week after the bombing in Gothenburg.

The four parties now hope to receive majority support for several of the proposals in the Riksdag.

But for that, the Center's support may be needed.

C does not believe that anonymous witnesses would be particularly effective in the fight against crime.

The party also warns that visitation zones risk eroding trust in the judiciary.

On the other hand, C is in favor of a proposal that the social services should intervene more quickly and more often to remove children from criminal environments.
