Hundreds of male and female doctors from the Afghan provinces of Samangan and Nuristan gathered at the gate of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) in Kabul and demanded that the World Bank pay their salaries for the past 14 months.

The protesters said that not only have their salaries been paid, but that clinics in their districts are facing an acute shortage of medicines, according to the Afghan Khama Press Agency.

Doctors warned that protests would continue if their salaries were not paid.
