Nahyan bin Mubarak: Principles of human brotherhood are the essence of the UAE's vision for its present and future
His Excellency Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, met with His Eminence the Grand Imam Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, Sheikh of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, and His Holiness Pope Francis, Pope of the Catholic Church, in the presence of His Excellency Omar Obaid Muhammad Al-Hasan Al-Shamsi, UAE Ambassador to the Italian Republic, on the sidelines of the Sant’Egidio International Prayer Meetings For Peace held in the Italian capital «Rome».
At the beginning of the meeting, His Excellency welcomed the Sheikh of Al-Azhar and the Pope of the Catholic Church, who established a solid approach to global human brotherhood that promotes peace, solidarity, dialogue and human tolerance among human beings, which are the same values on which the UAE was founded.
The Grand Imam, Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb and His Holiness Pope Francis praised the efforts of the UAE and its active role, under the leadership of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, “may God protect him” in establishing the principles of peace, tolerance, coexistence, dialogue and human solidarity among human beings worldwide, in order to enhance the principles and values of the brotherhood document. We do well together as we move forward with determination to see that all people have a positive future to look forward to as members of one human family.
His Excellency stated that all these values and principles are the essence of the UAE's vision for its present and future, which was laid down by the founding father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, "may God rest his soul." To make our country at the forefront of the world.
His Excellency said: We in the UAE believe that there is a great and wide scope in which we can work with the rest of the world in consolidating and strengthening the values and moral principles that form a vital part of our common human heritage, as the UAE presents a unique and successful model of peaceful coexistence between people of different religions, cultures, nationalities and backgrounds. .
His Excellency added: As a testament to our commitment to tolerance, we established the first and only Ministry of Tolerance and Coexistence in the world, of which I am proud to be a minister.. We are committed to working with all individuals and with all countries to ensure true respect and empathy for the dignity of every human being and the preservation of basic human rights for all.
His Excellency pointed out that this noble endeavor of human fraternity was in the minds of His Eminence the Grand Imam Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb and His Holiness Pope Francis when they issued the Abu Dhabi Declaration of Human Fraternity in 2019, where this historical document emphasizes the importance of “human fraternity” and the creation of a global community in which all live and work together as brotherhood Sisters in harmony and peace.. His Excellency stated: In many places around the world religious and cultural differences raise suspicion, and appreciation should instead be fostered in our common pursuit of human achievement.. His Excellency expressed his hope to see through the discussions of this conference actions and results that would unleash the power of tolerance and human brotherhood to change hearts and minds, in addition to defining strategies that would lead governments and individuals to adopt and practice the elements of tolerance and religious freedom, welcome diversity and heterogeneity, practice inclusion, and demonstrate sincere curiosity and respect. For those who are not like us.. when this happens we will have a universal human brotherhood.
