Lavrov said about the chronic degradation of relations between Russia and the EU

“Degradation becomes chronic.

And the last seven years, if we take relations between Russia and the EU as a whole, turned out to be a seven-year period of missed opportunities, ”he said at a meeting with members of the Association of European Businesses in Russia.

Lavrov noted that the only positive moment in relations was the initiative of German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French leader Emmanuel Macron to hold a Russia-EU summit.

Such a meeting, according to the Russian minister, was hindered by the absurdity of the logic of some EU countries, which considered such a summit "almost a gift for the Russian Federation."

Earlier, Lavrov met with high-ranking EU representative for foreign affairs and security policy, Deputy President of the European Commission Josep Borrell on the sidelines of the 76th session of the UN General Assembly in New York.
