Yanukovych's defense calls his arrest in absentia illegal

"The decision to choose a measure of restraint for Viktor Yanukovych was made under pressure to shade the scandals that the authorities are in," RIA Novosti quoted Prosyanyuk as saying.

She noted that the decision was made in violation of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.

Earlier, the Supreme Anti-Corruption Court of Ukraine, during the meeting, ruled to arrest Viktor Yanukovych in the case of the Mezhyhirya residence.
