On the 7th local time, WHO Director-General Tan Desai announced the launch of the global new crown vaccination strategy, hoping to vaccinate 40% of the world's population before the end of the year, and 70% of the world's population in the middle of next year.

This strategy requires at least 11 billion doses of COVID-19 vaccine. Now the world produces an average of nearly 1.5 billion doses of COVID-19 vaccine every month. If vaccines can be distributed fairly, there will be enough vaccines to realize this strategy.

According to WHO statistics, as of the end of September this year, more than 6 billion doses of the new crown vaccine have been vaccinated globally.

The WHO calls on countries to update their COVID-19 vaccination targets and distribute vaccines fairly in accordance with the WHO strategy.

Among them, countries with high vaccine coverage should exchange vaccines with the "New Coronary Pneumonia Vaccine Implementation Plan" to increase vaccine coverage in countries that urgently need vaccines. Countries that have pledged to share vaccines for the "New Coronary Pneumonia Vaccine Implementation Plan" should exchange vaccines in the near future. Fulfill its promises.

Vaccine manufacturers should also give priority to and implement the relevant contracts of the "New Coronary Pneumonia Vaccine Implementation Plan".

Previously, WHO had set a new crown vaccination target. It is hoped that countries can vaccinate 10% of the population before the end of September this year. However, there are still 56 countries and regions that have failed to complete the target, most of which are located in Africa and the Middle East.
