The violence is said to have started after the man was released from prison in the spring of 2020, and moved in with his girlfriend in Småland.
Witnesses tell in interrogation how he talked about "black magic" and that he was persecuted, thoughts that increased when they moved to a place in Kalmar County.
The girlfriend says that he accused her of being a thousand-year-old witch or possessed by a demon that was to be cast out.
Forced to lie in ice water
Therefore, on several occasions he forced her to lie for 20-45 minutes in a bathtub with ice-cold water with salt in it. On another occasion, he sprayed perfume on her trousers and set them on fire - as a form of witch-burning, the woman says in interrogation.
The man is now convicted of aggravated assault on women, unlawful deprivation of liberty, assault and unlawful threats.
According to a doctor's statement, he is not judged to suffer from a serious mental illness, he is therefore sentenced to two years and six months in prison.
His previously conditional release is also declared forfeited.
