A 38-year-old man was tried this Wednesday by the court of Orleans (Loiret) for acts of domestic violence.

Just over a month earlier, the police had to intervene at the couple's home and arrested the suspect, reports

.

Neighbors had alerted the police when they heard screams on the evening of September 5, shortly before 11 p.m.

The man refused to open the door for 15 minutes before police finally used a ram to enter the home.

"I tried to calm her down"

The victim presented blows on the cheekbone and marks on the forearm.

"She was dragged to the ground, kicked in the back," detailed the president of the court.

Violence that the thirty-something denied, arguing that his partner was "hysterical" and that he had simply "tried to calm her down".

His version of events did not convince.

He was sentenced to twelve months in prison, six of which were suspended.

Placed in pre-trial detention after his arrest, the man was kept in detention.
