In the clip above, you can hear Volvo Trucks CEO Roger Alm.

The large Danish logistics company DFDS placed the order.

100 heavy electric trucks may not sound like much - but it is.

Today, there are only a few hundred electric trucks in the whole of Europe, and only 195 registered heavy ones, ie over 16 tonnes.

- This is a big step towards fossil-free transport.

We want to lead and drive that transformation, says Roger Alm.

Has a large share of the market

Already today, Volvo has a market share of just over 40 percent of the European electric truck market.

The ambition is to continue on the path we have set.

Fifty percent of the volumes we sell in 2030 will be fossil-free - and one hundred percent by 2040. It always takes some time in the beginning, but then it accelerates.

We hope that the development towards fossil-free transport is very fast now, says Roger Alm.

Unclear price tag

Roger Alm does not want to say anything about how much DFDS has to pay for the hundred electric trucks, other than that it is a total solution where the customer leases the heavy trucks in six years via Volvo's finance company.

The electric trucks will be manufactured in Tuve with a delivery start in one year and with a total delivery time of just over a year.
