US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, during a phone call with his Qatari counterpart Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, praised Qatar's pioneering role in efforts to secure the safe evacuation from Afghanistan of American nationals, residents of the United States and Afghans at risk.

A US State Department statement said the two ministers discussed other issues related to Afghanistan, including efforts to coordinate the delivery of vital humanitarian support.

Many countries praised Qatar's role in the process of evacuating its nationals from Afghanistan since the Taliban movement took control of Kabul on August 15.

On September 14, Sheikh Muhammad bin Abdul Rahman Al Thani confirmed that Afghanistan cannot be isolated, saying that boycotting it is not a solution.

The Qatari foreign minister said at the time, "Our position is that we cannot isolate or boycott Afghanistan because the Taliban took over."

The Qatari minister added that the only way to get Afghanistan out of the current situation is through dialogue, and called on everyone to engage in dialogue with the Afghans.
