September 28, 2021 In post-Merkel Germany, the first meeting between ecologists and liberals: the leader of the SPD Scholz wants to accelerate and invites the Greens and the FPD to the table, but there are many knots to be resolved between the two decisive parties. The Social Democratic Party has entered into negotiations to form a tripartite coalition, led by its candidate for the chancellery, Olaf Scholz.

"First the contents of the future coalition and then the tasks". The co-leader of the German Greens, Robert Habeck, thus replies to those who ask him for comments on an alleged pact between the leaders of the party to assign him the seat of vice chancellor. At this moment talking about who of the Greens will occupy the vice chancellery "is absolutely irrelevant", he declared, recalling that "we still don't have a chancellor".

Habeck said he will lead the negotiations together with co-leader Annalena Baerbock, the Green candidate for chancellery, "with great unity, cohesion and strength". According to the online newspaper Frankfurter Allgemeine, the co-leaders of the Greens have long since agreed to assign the post of deputy chancellor to Harbeck in the event of an unsatisfactory electoral result.

In Sunday's elections, the Greens became the third party with 14.8%, an all-time high, but expectations were much higher and their failure is attributed to the candidate for the chancellery, Baerbock.

"The best chances of becoming chancellor are Scholz", said the head of the Bavarian CSU Markus Soeder, who congratulated the leader of the SPD on the victory.

"It is up to the SPD to try the first explorations with greens and liberals", Soeder said in Berlin, returning to the results of Sunday's elections: "We suffered a heavy defeat, and this is not only due to the distance from the SPD, now it is important that the result is respected ".

Laschet in the balance

Meanwhile, the 'trial' of Laschet in the CDU continues, in the silence of Merkel. New meeting of the group leaders of the defeated party, while the pressure rises for the candidate chancellor to leave the scene. The vast majority of Germans - up to 71% according to a poll - do not want Laschet as chancellor. Civey's research, published by the Augsburger Allgemeine newspaper, indicates that 71% think it is wrong that Laschet still proposes himself as chancellor, 22% are in favor.

Among the voters of the CDU / CSU, there is a 55% in favor of Laschet's attempt to lead the future ruling coalition, but 32% think it is a wrong idea.

Another poll, carried out by Inda for the popular daily Bild, records 51% of people opposed to the idea that Laschet continues to lead the CDU.

Only 21% are in favor, while the rest do not respond.

And only 13% think they should become chancellor.
