The councilor of Vox in the Madrid City Council
Fernando Martínez Vidal
wrote a tweet this Tuesday charging against the deputy mayor,
Begoña Villacís
(Cs), for supporting an initiative of Más Madrid in
defense of the right to abortion
, a message that has been accompanied by a photo of politics with his newborn daughter, which has led to the
disapproval of the other groups
.
Martínez Vidal has ended up
deleting the tweet and apologizing
after, successively, members of Cs, the PSOE, Más Madrid and the mixed group have criticized the message in the plenary session of Cibeles.
The controversy has originated from the
favorable vote of Citizens to a plenary initiative of Más Madrid
that urges to guarantee the right of women to abort "in freedom", for what it calls to
create "security zones"
in the environment of the accredited voluntary termination clinics, where women are often
"bullied and harassed" for their decision
.
The proposal has been
supported by PSOE, Ciudadanos and the mixed group
, while they have voted against PP and Vox, after a debate in which it was recalled that last week Congress approved a proposal of Law for the Penal Code to penalize this harassment of women who voluntarily terminate their pregnancy.
Tweet published, and later deleted, by the councilor of Vox Martínez Vidal.EM
After the vote,
Martínez Vidal wrote on Twitter
: "Rita Maestre, known as 'la asaltacapillas', has managed to get the municipal plenary session to recognize" the right of every woman to exercise her right to abortion in freedom ", thanks to the enthusiastic support of Begoña Villacís and a Citizens without North ".
And it has accompanied the text of a
photo of Villacís carrying his daughter born in 2019 in his arms
, with her face hidden, at the doors of the Jiménez Díaz Foundation hospital.
Villacís has
also
replied
on Twitter, where he wrote: "This tweet, and the photo it includes, is the lowest I have seen in a long time. Do not use my daughter's photo again. I hope rectification and apologies."
In the different interventions that took place at the same time in the
Cibeles hemicycle
there have been
allusions to what happened
.
The Urban Development delegate, Mariano Fuentes (Cs), has described the message as "nauseating", which "offends everyone" according to the councilor of the mixed group José Manuel Calvo, while the mayor of Más Madrid Esther Gómez has said that " it cannot be repeated. "
Finally, Martínez Vidal has deleted the tweet and, in the first intervention in which he had the opportunity to speak, he apologized to Villacís, although he
recalled that the photo he used is a "public" image
in which the deputy mayor appears "posing before the media".
