A total of 189 immigrants have been rescued this morning when they tried to reach the Spanish coasts aboard several boats, 108 in the

Balearic Islands

and 81 in the province of

Alicante

.

An eight-month pregnant woman with five children and another 40 adult males were traveling in the last of the three boats located on the Alicante coast, while the previous boat was intercepted in

Benidorm

when its 12 Algerian occupants had landed.

The first gondola of the night was located offshore, off

Santa Pola

, with 23 people: 13 men, four women (one of them pregnant) and six minors, one of them a seven-month-old baby, all of Syrian origin. except for two adult males who are Algerian.

Between 1:00 and 7:00 hours this Tuesday, seven boats have arrived in the Balearic archipelago: one to

Formentera

, with 17 immigrants, and another six to

Cabrera

and the coasts of

Mallorca

, with 72 people on board.

An eighth vessel was intercepted this morning in Cabrera waters with 19 immigrants.

The first one arrived at around one in the morning, when 17 people (15 men and 2 women) irregularly entered by sea in apparent good health, who have been located on land, in

Es Copinar

, in the island of Formentera.

At 2:35 hours 27 people (23 men and four women) were rescued in two boats, in apparent good health, in the waters of Mallorca.

Around 3:50 a.m. they have rescued 33 people (31 men and two women) in three boats, in apparent good condition, in the sea in the waters of Cabrera, in the south of Mallorca.

The last boat was sighted by the radars of

the Integrated External Surveillance Service

(SIVE) at around 7:05 am in Cabrera and 12 men were traveling in it, in apparent good condition.

These eight boats are added to the other two that arrived last night on the islands, with nine men and two women in

Cala Santanyí

, in the south of Mallorca;

and another 12 immigrants intercepted in Formentera.

In addition, this Monday a woman died and 113 people were rescued near the island of

Gran Canaria

, the Canarian islet of

Alegranza

, the autonomous city of

Ceuta

and the Granada port of

Motril

.

Another 163 immigrants also arrived in various boats to the coast of

Almería
