September 28, 2021 Two workers died in a nitrogen depot at the headquarters of the Humanitas hospital in Pieve Emanuele in the Milanese area. The victims were 42 and 46 and worked for an external company, the Sol group. They were supplying the hospital with nitrogen.

It may have been a leak of liquid nitrogen in the deposit that caused the accident. The Milan Public Prosecutor's Office is investigating the case and the file will be opened for the hypothesis of manslaughter.

According to the Lombardy Emergency Emergency Agency, "the death was probably caused by nitrogen poisoning".

According to a very first reconstruction made by the Fire Brigade, it seems that the victims were filling a tank with liquid nitrogen when, for reasons still under investigation, there was a "leak" that hit them.

This morning the 118 intervened on the spot around 11.25 but the first to be able to enter the depot, with the necessary equipment, were the Fire Brigade of the Provincial Command of Milan precisely because of the presence of the gas that seems to have saturated the room. Despite the speed of the intervention, there was already nothing for the two workers to do.

On the spot the judicial police team of the department led by the adjunct Tiziana Siciliano and also an Ats doctor, in addition to the carabinieri and fire brigade. L' area has been secured.

The prosecutor on duty Francesca Gentilini was informed of the deaths, who immediately alerted the 'environment, health, safety, work' department led by the adjunct Tiziana Siciliano.

Department investigating with the hypothesis of manslaughter.
