27 September 2021 Voting takes place on Sunday 3 and Monday 4 October.

The polls will remain open from 7 to 23 on Sunday 3 and from 7 to 15 on Monday 4 October.

There is a vote in 1,157 municipalities to elect the mayor and the municipal council.

We vote in Calabria for the Region, and we also vote in the two colleges of Siena-Arezzo and Rome-Primavalle for the supplementary elections of the Chamber of Deputies.

There are about 12 million Italians called to cast their votes.

The mayors of 6 regional capitals will be elected: Turin, Milan, Trieste, Bologna, Rome and Naples.

Also at the polls 14 provincial capitals: Benevento, Caserta, Cosenza, Grosseto, Isernia, Latina, Novara, Pavia, Pordenone, Ravenna, Rimini, Salerno, Savona, Varese.

The ballot paper is blue for the municipal elections, green for the regional ones in Calabria and pink for the two supplementary ones.

In Sicily and Sardinia, regions with special statutes, the administrative vote is set for 10 and 11 October and the ballots for 24 and 25 October. In Trentino Alto Adige the polls will take place on 10 October and the ballot will eventually take place on 24 October.

Masks and spacing

The anti-Covid measures are valid, i.e. gatherings will be prohibited, the obligation to wear a mask, to sanitize the hands and not to go to the polling station if with a body temperature above 37.5 degrees centigrade or if you are in quarantine. There can be no limitation to the right to vote and therefore there is no need for a green pass or tampons to enter the polling stations. For those in quarantine, special seats will be set up for the collection of the home vote.

How to vote

You can only make a mark on the candidate for mayor, so the vote will go exclusively to him. Or you can vote on one of the lists linked to the candidate for statutory auditor, in which case the vote goes to both the list and the statutory auditor supported by that list. A separate vote can also be expressed with a sign on the candidate for mayor and another on an unrelated list. The voter can also indicate two preferences, but of different kinds. If it does not respect the gender alternation, the second preference is canceled.

The Rai project

At 3 pm, as soon as the polls are closed, there will be the first Exit Pols in Turin, Milan, Trieste, Bologna, Rome, Naples and for the Calabria region (only candidates for president and mayors).

Starting from 15.45-16 Projections for Regional and Municipal with continuous emissions until the stabilization of the results (only candidates for president and mayors).

All information will support the specials broadcast starting Monday afternoon.

In Rome there is a vote for both municipal and supplementary houses in the territory including the Primavalle college which represents about 20% of the total electorate of the capital.

According to the law, the scrutiny of the supplementary will take place before that of the municipal ones, therefore the release of the first screening for Rome could be delayed compared to that of the other 5 regional capitals.
