The
Official State
Gazette (BOE) publishes this Monday the creation of
the State Council for the Participation of Children and Adolescents
, a body to give children a voice in the development of public policies that affect them.
The
Ministry of Social Rights and the 2030 Agenda
approves this permanent and stable consultation body, as established by the law for the protection of children and adolescents against violence, made up of children between 8 and 17 years of age who will renew their mandate each two years.
Its functions include proposing to the organs of the
General State Administration
and other organizations recommendations to promote the rights of the child or address other needs and issues that affect minors to improve their living conditions.
The Council will act as a channel for communicating the opinions of minors, will participate in the follow-up and evaluation of the
Strategy for the Rights of Children and Adolescents,
and will attend to consultations on normative projects, plans, strategies and programs of the General State Administration.
It was created with the aim of promoting the positive vision of children and helping to sensitize society about the importance of their participation as part of active citizenship.
