While visiting Eurexpo for Sirha, the major meeting place for catering, hotel and food professionals, Emmanuel Macron received an egg from a young man who shouted "Long live the revolution ".
The projectile bounced off his shoulder, according to images posted on Twitter.
The president's security service immediately overpowered the perpetrator, who was handcuffed.
