• Municipal The 'macro-bottle' of Barcelona changes places to avoid the police but the violence continues

La Mercè's hangover can take its toll on the Ada Colau municipal government. The images of macro-bottles, clashes with the police, vandalism breaking street furniture, assaults, robberies, glass of buildings, patrol cars, burning vehicles, looting in shops or the enormous cost of cleaning due to accumulated garbage have aroused the opposition in the Barcelona City Council who believes that the feeling of insecurity has increased in the city and blame the mayor directly.

Faced with this situation, the municipal groups of ERC and Junts per Catalunya want to demand the celebration of an extraordinary plenary session of the Barcelona City Council to discuss the low security in the city after these three days of macro-bottles during the main festival. The spokesman for the Junts per Catalunya group in the Barcelona city council, Jordi Martí, said that the municipal government "is incapable of responding to the needs of the city, and is incapable of stopping these uncontrolled macro-bottles."

For his part, the president of the ERC group in the Consistory and deputy in the Parliament of Catalonia, Ernest Maragall, acknowledged that this plenary session will be requested "to go in depth in the analysis and in the proposal and face this unacceptable present." In this sense, Maragall added that "Barcelona is experiencing a 'state of night emergency' that needs an urgent response". It is up to the mayor of Barcelona to decide when it is convened, within a maximum period of ten days.

Precisely, in the same vein after the riots on Saturday, Ada Colau again demanded the involvement of the Generalitat to combat bottles and alcohol consumption by minors, since it not only affects the Catalan capital but the entire territory . "Uncontrolled alcohol consumption by minors is a public health problem that must be addressed," said Colau, who added that they must work "with the maximum institutional collaboration to address a phenomenon that has intensified throughout the country and that not only worries about taking care of the city, but also about the health of young people ".

Colau already asked the Generalitat for collaboration over the weekend so that the Mossos d'Esquadra could lead the police force in Plaza Espanya and avoid incidents in another bottle. However, people changed their party spot due to police pressure and went to the beaches, the scene of clashes and looting last night. "When the incidents" that "were less serious than those of the previous night but equally reprehensible" have taken place is when the police intervened but believes that "the vandalism and destruction have nothing to do with the right to leisure, and that the police act to arrest those responsible and prevent such events from happening again. "

For their part, the Socialists launched a cable to their government partners of the 'commons' in the Barcelona City Council. Thus, the PSC-Units parliamentary group will request the appearance of the Minister of the Interior, Joan Ignasi Elena, after the riots and vandalism that have taken place in the last two mornings in the city of Barcelona. The Socialists have shown their "perplexity and concern about the silence of the Department of the Interior" and have demanded that Elena appear in Parliament to "give explanations and details of how she plans to face this serious situation", according to the words of deputy Ramon Espadaler.

In this way, the Socialists called for "measures that contribute to empowering the police and facilitating coordination between police forces to deal with violent episodes", at a time when pro-independence groups are questioning public order in Parliament.

Three nights of macro-bottles in Barcelona, within the Mercè festivities, have ended with serious destruction of vehicles, street furniture and buildings and looting in establishments, as well as 79 injured and fifty detainees.
