Over the past day, 22,498 cases of coronavirus were detected in Russia.

Over the past 24 hours, 13,671 people have fully recovered, the number of deaths has reached 805.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, 7,420,913 cases of COVID-19 have been reported in Russia.

6 604 604 people have recovered.

From complications that developed against the background of coronavirus, and concomitant diseases, 203,900 people died.

According to Rospotrebnadzor, over the entire observation period, more than 189.8 million tests were carried out for a new type of coronavirus infection, including 509 thousand in the last day.

1,256,970 people remain under medical supervision.

In Moscow, 3275 new cases of coronavirus were detected, in St. Petersburg - 2055, in the Moscow region - 1215.

According to the data of the capital's operational headquarters, over the past day, 767 people were hospitalized, 59 patients died.

There are 342 people in Moscow hospitals on mechanical ventilation.

According to experts, no strains of coronavirus have been recorded in Russia that are more dangerous than the "delta" variant.

According to Kamil Khafizov, the head of the scientific group for the development of new methods for diagnosing human diseases at the Central Research Institute of Epidemiology of Rospotrebnadzor, the strains common in the Russian Federation are derived from the "delta".

“Now in the Russian Federation, as in other countries, new branches are formed within the 'delta' line, which differ from their 'ancestor' by additional changes in RNA, but we cannot yet say that they make this strain even more infectious - different options ", - quotes his words TASS.

Khafizov added that, in accordance with the studies of foreign scientists, the "delta" strain has practically exhausted its potential to form resistance to the neutralizing action of protective antibodies.

He also added that those strains that are recognized by the World Health Organization (WHO) as "of concern" are inferior to the "delta" in the ability to spread just as actively.

“Therefore, at the moment, any virus genovariants that pose a greater danger to people than“ delta ”have not been identified not only in Russia, but also in the world,” concluded Khafizov.

In addition, Rospotrebnadzor also expressed the opinion that coronavirus infection can become a seasonal disease if there is a herd immunity in the country at the level of 80%.

Also on russian.rt.com, Lavrov announced at the UN about Russia's support for the principle of mutual recognition of vaccines against COVID-19

“You can make an absolutely clear forecast: if there is a herd immunity at the level of 80%, and it consists of two components - post-vaccination and natural - the disease will become seasonal.

The preliminary forecasts that 60% will be sufficient, unfortunately, are currently being adjusted all over the world, "Alexander Gorelov, deputy director for scientific work of the Central Research Institute of Epidemiology of Rospotrebnadzor, told TASS.

Meanwhile, he explained that so far only a third of the population has immunity to coronavirus in the country, so infections "still have where to turn around."

The timing of achieving herd immunity, according to Gorelov, is due "only to our commitment to vaccination, conscientiousness and activity."

Reaction to US study report on the origins of coronavirus

In an interview with RT, the director of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service, Sergei Naryshkin, suggested that the report prepared by US intelligence on the origin of the coronavirus contained politicized assessments.

“Quite a while ago, the US intelligence community published its report on this subject, which contained such very vague, I would say, politicized assessments, which, of course, is uncharacteristic for intelligence, and for intelligence it looks very unprofessional,” he said.

Naryshkin attributed this to "the crisis caused by efforts to politicize the activities of the American intelligence community."

“As far as our knowledge is concerned, we are, of course, trying to keep an eye on this issue.

But we did not receive any evidence that this virus was created in a laboratory.

And therefore, we adhere, of course, to the version that the majority, in my opinion, from the scientific community also adhere to, that this virus, of course, was born in nature, "Naryshkin noted.

The SVR director stressed that the final answer to this question should be given by scientists, in particular microbiologists and virologists.
